I'm a cartographer, and beginning PhD studies in just that field at Penn State University. My interests are in cartographic design broadly, and more specifically in geometry, generalization, and cartographic reason.
My MS thesis is entitled "Scale-specific automated map line simplification by vertex clustering on a hexagonal tessellation". I presented preliminary work on this project at AutoCarto 2010 in Orlando, Florida (AutoCarto site here). For a copy of my proceedings paper, please see the Publications page, link at left.
